At your first visit, both the doctor and the dental hygienist will perform a thorough oral examination. Your teeth will be evaluated for decay, defective existing restorations, and for any excessive wear patterns. The health of the gums, bone and other tissues will be checked for evidence of periodontal disease or other soft tissue disease such as cancer. The head and neck regions are included in both this initial and in all future examinations.
